Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Review

Recently released in Thermaltake’s line of PC gaming cases is the Overseer RX-1 which has been specifically marketed towards professional and casual gamers. I recently used the Overseer in a build which gave me the chance to get up front and personal with the new case.

During the build I was impressed with how easy it was to fit everything inside. Cable management was a breeze and it had all the proper rubber grommets that you’d need.

Case Design

The Thermaltake Overseer has a very rugged look, some great LED lights, a side window, and has plenty of room for your large GPU up to 12.5″ or 32cm. One of the small things I noticed upon removing the front fascia is that there’s a fan filter – which is often overlooked by less expensive brands. An additional filter is located beneath the bottom-mounted PSU. As this is a new case USB 3.0 is incorporated into the front I/O panel as well. Another really cool feature is the docking station just behind the USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports in the front I/O panel which gives you access to your 2.5″ and 3.5″ drives. For those of you who like to have the inside of your case painted, the Overseer is painted black – which is becoming more of a standard for modern day gamer cases.

Overall:

Overall I would give the Overseer 4/5 stars. The top tool-less drive bays are a plus and for the money it’s right there with other gaming cases that have similar features.

If you’ve ever gone to a LAN party where you lugged around your 35-50 pound full or mid tower, then you know just how exhausting it can be. That being said there is definitely something desirable about a portable gaming rig that doubles as your HTPC and is super lightweight to carry. While there are not a ton of options in this space there are still some very good choices depending on the size of your GPU and amount of power you’ll need. Some of these cases come with a PSU; however, not all of them are 80 PLUS so keeping your power at a minimum or buying a separate PSU may be necessary.
